Welcome to the Safe in the Sound Website
A message from Randy Hutson, Regional Chief Executive Officer:
What do a Scout group, a neighborhood church and your family all have in common? They need to be prepared for any emergency. Safe in the Sound is an initiative to help our community achieve this. The goal is to better prepare the greater Puget Sound area over the next few years. How prepared are you and your family for a disaster? Do you have an AED in your workplace?
Far too many individuals, families, communities and business are simply not prepared for an emergency or disaster. When the time comes, you don’t want to rely solely on first responders who may be busy. Instead, learn the skills to help you be the first responder in your own home. Don’t let your family fall through the cracks. Explore our site and follow the steps to get a kit, make a plan and be informed. Each step you take will make all the difference in preparing for disaster.
We can work together to better prepare one another. Our region has the character, the nature and the demographics to effect a cultural change and to make preparedness the cool thing to do! Sixty-seven percent of those surveyed think preparedness is very important, but less than 25 percent are actually prepared. That’s a set-up for cultural change. Make sure you are first in your neighborhood to step-up to the challenge of this change. Become a catalyst to help prepare others around you.
If you don’t want to be left behind, become part of the preparedness movement today. Make yourself and your loved ones safe in the sound.
